Our doctors actively work together to discuss the best treatment for every patient through our tumor boards. When you or a loved one is diagnosed with cancer, cancer services at University of Maryland Capital Region Health provides comprehensive care and treatment.
To better serve the region, University of Maryland Capital Region Health is expanding its Cancer Services. Planning is underway for the construction of a new Cancer Center, scheduled to open in 2021. The center will house two linear accelerators for radiation therapy.
The UM Capital team is also actively working to achieve cancer center accreditation from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.
Patient Navigator for Cancer Care
Our Patient Navigator program helps you understand your treatment and access services that can help as you and your family manage living with cancer. A nurse oncologist meets with you and talks with you about available programs and services that can help. The Patient Navigator:
- Provides you and your family with personal guidance
- Answers your questions
- Helps you understand recommended treatments
- Connects you with additional services, including home health care
- Provides support
