At University of Maryland Capital Region Health, our Chest Pain Center (CPC) team specializes in recognizing and treating heart attacks quickly, when every moment counts. It’s this expertise that earned us accreditation from the American College of Cardiology (ACC) as a Chest Pain Center with Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI). Accreditation means we meet very high standards of care and we can perform minimally invasive procedures, such as angioplasty, to treat heart attacks.
UM Prince George’s Hospital Center’s evidence-based, protocol-driven, and systematic approach to cardiac patient care allows clinicians to reduce time to treatment during the critical early stages of a heart attack. The hospital successfully monitors patients when it is not initially clear whether or not a patient is having a coronary event. Such monitoring ensures patients are neither sent home too early nor needlessly admitted.
